Bossypants Review
By Andrea Dekker

Within the first chapter, Tina Fey reveals how she received the scar across her face, from a person slashing her in a back ally, while she was a kindergartener. I found the most interesting and inspiring aspect from this “tragedy” is how she handles the aftermath and the reactions she received from people noticing her scar. Fey does not see it as impairing or ugly, she actually accepted the attention and did not mind answering the questions. Fey noticed a reoccurring personality trait in every person who did ask, “egomaniacs of average intelligence or less”. This scene from, the book, is very revealing of the author’s personality, confidence, and ambition

Uniquely Qualified:
Tine Fey has many great qualities that qualify her as a writer, performer, professional, mother and wife. Fey practiced and performed what she loved, improvisation comedy, which later led her to writing and performing on "SaturdayNight Live", and creating the television show "30 Rock". Along with many films, she has appeared in, Fey wrote and co-starred in the movie "Means Girls". Fey discloses, in Bossypants, many life experiences, struggles, and accomplishments, attributing to her knowledge and unique viewpoint on life’s situations. Tine Fey is a talented writer, and shares her life through her humorous writing.
Public Relations tool:
Bossypants is a great public relations tool for the author, in that Fey tells her life journey to present day, sharing her personal viewpoints to her readers. This expression is good public relations because the entire book is about Tina Fey. From cover to cover the reader knows what and whom the book is about.
Writing style:
I enjoyed the sarcastic and humorous writing style throughout the book. There was never a boring or not relatable moment in Bossypants. However, the book does jump around in different periods of her life, which at times, I found difficult to follow.
Content:
By reading Bossypants I have learned about Tina Fey’s life and the journey she took to becoming successful. Before reading her book I did not know all the hard work and different aspects of the performing arts that she was involved in. I also learned about the many, and sometimes difficult situations women can be in while working in the professional world.
Recommendations:
I recommend this book to all women. Bossypants embraces women leadership through the life stories of Tine Fey. Its’ funny and inspiring and can be relatable to all women of many ages. This book is for those who love to laugh and who read for enjoyment.
